Roman Reigns Pulls Out Of WrestleMania 36 Match Against Goldberg

• Old School WWF Legend Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF Veteran “Goldust” Dustin Rhodes (Real name: Dustin Runnels) celebrates his 51st birthday today.

While he had his World Wrestling Federation debut as Dustin Rhodes in late 1990, his biggest claim to fame is without a doubt portraying the character of Goldust, which he debuted in 1995, but was still working the gimmick as a main roster WWE Superstar until he joined AEW in 2019.

In between his WWF/E stints, Dustin worked for Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling from 1991 until 1995 and from 1999 till the promotion was sold to Vince McMahon in 2001.

Him going into the WWE Hall of Fame one day after he’ll be retired, is only a question of “when”, not “if”.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOLDUST!

• Goldberg Comments On Last Minute Changes To WrestleMania 36

During a recent interview on CarCast podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg talked about the last minute changes that were made to his WrestleMania 36 match.

Goldberg was originally scheduled to defend the Universal Championship against “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns on Night 1 of WrestleMania 36, but Reigns backed out on the day of filming the match when he found out The Miz had arrived sick at the WWE Performance Center.

Reigns was then replaced by Braun Strowman, who went on to defeat Goldberg to capture the Universal Championship.

Goldberg said the following about the changes made to his match:

“I don’t know why it was even considered in the beginning besides he’d invested the time and WWE invested the money in the match. Literally, until the 23rd hour, it was still a possibility that he and I were going to wrestle.

It was possible that I could wrestle Roman again before the 5th, that obviously fell through.

I think what happened was somebody was sick and Roman had heard about it. They just had the flu. Just the fact that someone was sick under those circumstances, at the end of the day, he just couldn’t do it.

More power to him to continually want to get it done, whether that’s realistic or unrealistic from a person in his shoes are concerned. You’ve got to love the guy because up to the 11th hour, he was still willing to do it.”
