4. AJ Styles Still Not Fully Healed?
As seen in the main event of SmackDown Live, “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin & “The Showoff” Dolph Ziggler battled in a #1 contenders match (with the winner facing “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles for the WWE Championship on the next episode).
The match ended in a double count-out and this lead to SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan booking a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship between them for the next episode.
This was done to protect Styles as he has still not fully recovered from the ankle injury he suffered at TLC 2016 (as he will have to do a lot less work in the match since it’s a Triple Threat).
