Goldberg has announced plans to hold his retirement match in WWE in 2025.

Referring to Gunther and his showdown with the World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Bad Blood, Goldberg said, “I think we know who the subject or the victim, the frontrunner right now, we know who it is.”

Triple H, Nick Khan, and Chris Legentil have all approved the retirement match.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Nic Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler in WWE) tweeted the following after hearing this news:

“On the bell, he spears & jackknife’s Gunther. G kicks out at 1. 3 minute match and good f’n riddance.”

Nemeth later tweeted:

“Or it can be the Steiner kid. Relax.”

At SummerSlam 2019, Goldberg squashed Ziggler in just 1 minute & 50 seconds. Goldberg went on to further destroy Ziggler with more vicious spears after the match.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Goldberg’s retirement match is currently not scheduled for Royal Rumble 2025. They previously reported that Goldberg vs. Gunther isn’t planned for WrestleMania 41 either.

Goldberg’s last match was at Elimination Chamber 2022, where he was defeated by Roman Reigns in a Universal Championship match.

The WCW Legend’s final match might not take place anytime soon, as he needs time to get ready after almost 3 years of in-ring inactivity.

Goldberg last worked a Royal Rumble PLE in 2021, where he lost to Drew McIntyre in a WWE Championship match.
