WWE RAW star Liv Morgan’s legal ordeal in Sumter County, Florida, has come to a close, as confirmed by PWInsider. The closure marks the end of a chapter that began with Morgan’s arrest during a routine traffic stop in December 2023.
The incident unfolded when Morgan was apprehended for possession of marijuana (not exceeding 20 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, and suspected possession of synthetic cannabinoids. A sheriff’s deputy pulled her over after observing her yellow jeep veering across lanes on a County Road.
Of the charges, the most serious — possession of synthetic cannabinoids — was dropped recently due to the State of Florida’s inability to substantiate its case. An Assistant State Attorney explained to KOMONews the intricacies of proving synthetic THC origin, citing the lack of available tests in Florida. Consequently, the charge was reduced to possession of cannabis.
According to the arrest report, the unmistakable scent of marijuana lingered as the deputy approached Morgan’s vehicle. Below is her mugshot:
While Morgan was initially due for a hearing on February 20 regarding the remaining charge of marijuana possession, her attorney entered a plea of Nolo Contendere on January 31. This plea acknowledges conviction without an admission of guilt, a legal maneuver commonly utilized in such cases.
The resolution of Morgan’s case includes a fine, specified as $543.00 in court records. Notably absent are additional fines or penalties beyond the monetary assessment. In Florida, possession of marijuana (up to 20 grams) is a first-degree misdemeanor, potentially carrying a jail sentence of up to one year, a $1,000 fine, and a six-month driver’s license suspension, among other repercussions. However, Morgan’s case only incurred the monetary fine.
Contrary to potential expectations, WWE management showed no adverse reaction to Morgan’s legal entanglement. The wrestler, who recently returned from a shoulder injury at Royal Rumble 2024, is poised to compete in the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event in Perth, Australia.
In conclusion, Liv Morgan’s legal matter has concluded with a fine and without any substantial repercussions from her employer, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity as she continues her professional wrestling career.
Liv will face Zoey Stark in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on next week’s RAW.
