Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring John Cena and AEW Rampage.
• Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn faced Bron Breakker at the WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event in Cleveland, OH, on Saturday night, where Breakker emerged victorious in just five minutes, claiming the title.
In an interview with SEScoops, Breakker expressed his openness to a match with John Cena, who is set to retire in 2025. He also mentioned that Cena has never held the Intercontinental Title in his career.
Cena’s upcoming retirement was announced during Money In The Bank. He has stated that he will be there when RAW moves to Netflix and that he will work the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania events in 2025. Cena plans to wrestle throughout the year, aiming for 30–40 matches.
Breakker issued a challenge, saying, “John Cena. He has never won the Intercontinental Championship before. So I say come take it from me. Come take the Championship from me. Grow some balls, come take the championship from me. Let’s go. Let’s do it.”
