In a recent interview with SK Wrestling, WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther claimed (in character) that he was happy to see his opponent Chad Gable’s daughter cry on RAW, after he defeated her father.

Here’s what Gunther said, after being asked what he felt when he realized that Chad’s daughter is crying:

“I felt great. I won, right? So I’m good. I enjoy a little bit of heartbreak at the end. So I was happy to see that.”

WALTER joined WWE NXT UK in 2019 and ended up holding the NXT United Kingdom Championship for 870 days, thus making him by far the longest title holder in the (now defunct) championship’s legacy.

In January 2022, he was renamed Gunther and eventually debuted on the WWE main roster (SmackDown) in April, before winning the Intercontinental Championship in June 2022.

In the summer of 2023, Gunther became the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWF/WWE history, surpassing The Honky Tonk Man’s long-time record.

The interview host also asked him about breaking the record that hadn’t been touched since 1988.

Here’s what Gunther had to say:

“It’s a great accomplishment, but I’m gonna use that to build my legacy more on top of that. I’m just getting started.”

A huge blockbuster match is currently rumored for next year’s WrestleMania 40 premium live event, and that is Gunther facing none other than Brock Lesnar.

At this point it’s nothing but a rumor, but it’s said that this match has pretty good chances of main eventing the first night of WrestleMania in 2024.
