• Old School Wrestling Veteran Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 54th birthday of Old School ECW/WCW/WWF Veteran Mike Awesome (Real name: Michael Lee Alfonso).

Mike Awesome was the real life cousin of Hulk Hogan’s nephew, fellow Old School WCW Veteran Horace Hogan (Michael Bollea).

After years in Japan (FMW), Mike wrestled for Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling until he joined Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling in April 2000, while still holding the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.

Awesome, now under WCW contract, ended up dropping the title a few days later at an ECW event in Indianapolis, by losing it to WWF Wrestler Tazz, who then lost the belt the following week to Tommy Dreamer.

When Vince McMahon bought WCW in march 2001, he was signed to a World Wrestling Federation contract and became a member of the WCW/ECW Alliance during the infamous Invasion Storyline.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & † R.I.P.

• WWE Wants Fans To Forget About AJ Styles Punching Vince McMahon

As seen on an episode of SmackDown last month, AJ Styles laid out Vince McMahon with a punch in a backstage segment.

You can watch it below:

According to WWE Hall Of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley, WWE wants fans to forget about this segment as there was no follow-up on this incident on WWE TV.

Below is what Bubba Ray Dudley said on Busted Open Radio:

“When WWE doesn’t follow up on something it normally tells me that they want us to forget about it. So I haven’t seen Vince even gently remind AJ of, ‘Don’t forget son, I know there’s an animal raging inside of there.’ We’re not getting anything from him.

He stood in the ring with AJ Styles (this week on SmackDown Live) and they did the promo and the back-and-forth, and did that promo really get us anywhere and anything?”
