WWE officials wanted to do Finn Bálor – Hideo Itami feud in NXT after NXT Takeover: Unstoppable event. WWE wanted to do this storyline before Balor gets called up to the main roster.
But Hideo Itami’s severe shoulder injury changed the plans as he’s out of action for about 6-8 months and has been pulled from tonight’s Takeover event. Currently there are plans to do a major angle between Finn Bálor & NXT Champion Kevin Owens. This might prove to be a possible spoiler for tonight’s Takeover event as Bálor might win the #1 Contender’s match and Owens might retain.
According to reports, Vince McMahon wanted to bring up Finn Bálor to the main roster as soon as possible but Triple H was against this move & wanted things to be done slowly & with patience because rushing could prove to be wrong. When Bálor signed with WWE, he was assured that he won’t be staying in NXT for too long.
