Goldust taking on his brother Cody Rhodes is a match that WWE wanted to do since WrestleMania 28. We did get to see this match last month at WWE FastLane but this wasn’t exactly the original match planned as Cody Rhodes was in his Stardust persona, not to mention that the match was anything but good.
WWE officials were planning for a rematch between the two at WrestleMania 31, with Cody Rhodes dropping his Stardust gimmick and appearing as “Cody Rhodes” himself. But according to the recent SmackDown tapings, it looks like that match has been scrapped.
In the main event of this week’s SmackDown, Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose battled Luke Harper and Bad News Barrett. At the end, the same Intercontinental title scramble thing happened, and R-Truth passed the belt to Daniel Bryan and started a YES! chant which possibly indicates that Bryan is indeed wrestling for the IC title at WrestleMania 31. As Bryan was celebrating, Stardust attacked him from behind and climbed a ladder and posed with the belt, which indicates that he wants to be in the match as well.
Another interesting point to note is that Goldust also wants to be in the IC title picture at WrestleMania 31. Here’s what he tweeted.
