It was previously reported that Roman Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against AJ Styles at the Crown Jewel 2023 premium live event on November 4th in Saudi Arabia.
Styles has been feuding with Solo Sikoa & Jimmy Uso of The Bloodline and was brutally assaulted by the duo recently.
However, it looks like WWE might have changed their plan for Roman’s next PLE match.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE might be going in the direction of Roman Reigns vs. John Cena III at Crown Jewel, for the Undisputed Title.
After his return on SmackDown, Cena began feuding with The Bloodline and he will team up with LA Knight to take on Jimmy & Solo at this Saturday’s Fastlane premium live event.
The Cenation Leader will also appear on next week’s NXT, to be the corner of Carmelo Hayes, as Hayes takes on Bron Breakker. Paul Heyman will be in the corner of Breakker, as Heyman revealed that The Tribal Chief ordered him to do so.
Reigns and Cena have faced each other on PPV/PLE twice so far. At No Mercy 2017, “The Big Dog” version of Reigns defeated Cena in the co-main event. In the main event of SummerSlam 2021, “The Tribal Chief” version of Reigns defeated Cena to retain the Universal Championship.
The Observer also noted that LA Knight might face Reigns next after the Cena match.
The Head of the Table will return to WWE TV on the next week’s October 13th episode of SmackDown, which will be the post-Fastlane episode of the blue brand.
On October 14th, Roman will defend the Undisputed Title against RAW wrestler Sami Zayn at a WWE Live Event at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.
Reigns is only 5 wins away from completing 1,000 victories in WWE.
