10. Taz Explains Why Vince McMahon Is Giving Jinder Mahal A Chance In The Main Event Scene

During a recent interview with CBS Local Sports, ECW Legend Taz talked about Jinder Mahal’s sudden main event push. Taz explained why Vince McMahon gave Jinder a chance in the main event scene:

“A lot of fans will say the guy wasn’t pushed, they weren’t doing much with him and he was losing a bunch of matches. To me it’s all about, and if Vince McMahon was here he’d agree, if a guy’s in-ring work is strong enough, if he can sell tickets on the microphone and get the proper reaction, has some size, looks believable, it’s ‘Hey, let’s give this guy a shot.’ I don’t have a problem with it at all.

To me, if a guy checks all of those boxes, I have no problem with it. Actually, Jinder Mahal, I’m a fan of his work and his promo style. He’s one of the few that have legitimate heat on the microphone in that company.”

Jim Ross also recently noted that putting Jinder Mahal in the WWE Title picture is a risk worth taking:

“The Jinder Mahal ascension on the SDLive roster including him being the #1 contender for the WWE Title seems to be being overthought to some degree by a handful of pundits. The rapid advancement up the card of Jinder has some concerned, and I get that point, but I see it as worth the chance and, fast track or not, Mahal is somewhat of a calculated risk which is essentially the same thing that most promotions deal with when advancing new talents who suddenly appear on the main event radar.

I like this booking because it involves a deserving, hard working talent who has unique skills, is fundamentally sound and has a unique, TV persona plus he provides Randy Orton with a new opponent.

Question…what if Jinder Mahal becomes the next, WWE Champion? Stranger things have happened and it’s not the worse idea that I’ve heard lately. This shocker might be worth a bit of consideration.
