Huge Name Getting Inducted Into WWE Hall Of Fame Class Of 2019?

The Rock WWE Hall Of Fame

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (December 7, 1997) – WWF In Your House 19: D-Generation X

On this day in WWF history on December 7, 1997, the World Wrestling Federation aired ‘WWF In Your House 19: D-Generation X’ LIVE on PPV from the Springfield Civic Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

This happened to be the very first PPV after the Montreal Screwjob, so Bret “The Hitman” Hart, “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith & Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart were already gone from the promotion at that point.

This was also “Double J” Jeff Jarrett’s first WWF PPV after he returned from WCW, and – on a more important note – the very first PPV match between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin & The Rock.

Here are the results:

– WWF Light Heavyweight Championship – tournament final: Taka Michinoku def. Brian Christopher

– Los Boricuas def. The Disciples of Apocalypse

– Toughman match: Butterbean def. Marc Mero via DQ

– WWF Tag Team Championship: The New Age Outlaws (c) def. The Legion of Doom via DQ

– Boot Camp match: Triple H def. Sgt. Slaughter

– Jeff Jarrett def. The Undertaker via DQ

– WWF Intercontinental Championship: Stone Cold Steve Austin (c) def. The Rock

– WWF World Heavyweight Championship: Ken Shamrock def. Shawn Michaels (c) via DQ

• Huge Name Getting Inducted Into WWE Hall Of Fame Class Of 2019?

According to the Wrestling Observer, Old School WWF Legend The Rock is being considered for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2019.

WWE likes to put a big name in the headline spot in the WWE Hall of Fame every year and with not that many big headline names left, it looks like The Rock’s time has come.

This could be one of the reasons why WWE Hall of Fame 2019 was moved from Friday to Saturday night during WrestleMania 35 weekend (with the possibility being Rock wasn’t available on Friday that weekend).

As we noted before, WWE originally wanted to book The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35 if The Rock was open for a match.

However, WWE might end up inducting The Rock into the WWE Hall of Fame if “The Great One” doesn’t want to return for a match.

It’s common knowledge that Vince McMahon values the New York area and it could be one of the reasons why Vince wants a big household name like The Rock to be involved with WrestleMania 35 in 2019 (not to mention their two big names, Triple H & Roman Reigns, might miss WrestleMania 35).

It should be noted that there have also been rumors of the nWo (Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall & Kevin Nash) to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next year.

With The Rock & nWo both being worthy of the headline spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, expect only one of these two to be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year and the other being saved for a future year.
