15. On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (July 11 – 2005, 2009) – Matt Hardy Returns For A “Real Life Feud” & Brock Lesnar Gets His Revenge

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on July 11, 2005, Matt Hardy made his return to three months after he was released. Matt attacked Edge twice on that night (as Edge was having a real-life affair with his then girlfriend Lita) before he was forced out of the arena. WWE made it look as if this was a real situation. You can watch it below:

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on July 11, 2009, Brock Lesnar defeated Frank Mir at UFC 100 PPV to retain his UFC Heavyweight Championship and achieved redemption (as Mir made Lesnar tap out in his UFC debut). With this huge fight headlining the PPV, UFC 100 got 1.6 million PPV buys and became the most bought PPV in UFC history (this record got broken in 2016 when Conor McGregor faced Nate Diaz at UFC 202).

Lesnar brutalized Mir in the fight and won via KO and was still worked up after the fight shouted “Talk all the s*** you want now, mother******”.

In the post fight interview, Lesnar said the following:

“Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his a$$. I told him that a year ago. I pulled that sumb***h out and beat him over the head with it! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!”

Lesnar even took a shot at Bud Light (UFC’s sponsor), but that has been edited for the UFC 100 DVD. You can watch the full fight and the crazy post-fight interview below:
