• Huge Rematch Taking Place At SummerSlam 2018?
With WWE just days away from putting its “minor” lead-up pay-per-view, Extreme Rules in the rear view, it’s time to look ahead to SummerSlam 2018 as the summer’s biggest feuds are set to begin.
After a six-year run in Los Angeles at the Staples Center from 2009-14, the second-biggest PPV on the calendar for WWE will emanate from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, for the fourth straight year on Sunday, Aug. 19. Expect it to once again be a four-hour event with a one-hour kickoff show and a post-PPV show.
Below are some of the rumored matches for this year’s SummerSlam 2018 according to recent conjecture:
– WWE Universal Championship
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Bobby Lashley or Roman Reigns
Recently, there has been speculation that Lesnar hasn’t agreed to compete in a match for this year’s SummerSlam. If he doesn’t, then it’ll be interesting to see what WWE decides next. If he does, the winner of the Lashley/Reigns bout at Extreme Rules will most likely face the champion.
– The Undertaker vs. John Cena
There have been rumors of a WrestleMania 34 rematch between Undertaker & Cena taking place for months now because Taker defeated Cena in less than 3 minutes. While there’s a higher possibility of this match happening at WrestleMania 35 next year, but it is being rumoured that Taker & Cena might go at it at SummerSlam 2018 (because of the fact that The Undertaker worked a WWE Live Event in MSG during the current ‘SummerSlam Heatwave’ tour).
– WWE Championship
AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe
– RAW Women’s Championship
Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
The seeds for this match were already planted when Bliss cashed in on Nia Jax at Money In The Bank, costing Rousey her first ever title match. Rousey’s suspension is almost over and she’ll be back in time for SummerSlam so this match can be expected for the event.
– Daniel Bryan vs. Kane or The Miz
– Sasha Banks vs. Bayley
