Hulk Hogan has now issued a statement as well. Below is what the Hulkster wrote:

“Today, we honor the legacy of a wrestling icon. Rest in peace, Iron Sheik. 🙏🏼

The wrestling world has lost a true legend, and Sheik’s contributions to our industry will never be forgotten.

I’ll always cherish the battles we had in the ring. Our matches were intense, and our rivalry was legendary. We shared a bond that only fellow wrestlers can understand.

Iron Sheik’s unique charisma, undeniable talent, and unforgettable personality made him an unforgettable figure in the hearts of wrestling fans worldwide. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of wrestlers to come.

Rest in peace, Iron Sheik. You will always be remembered as a true warrior of the ring.”

The Iron Sheik wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation from 1983 until 1987, then briefly in 1988 and again from 1991 until 1992.

In December 1983, Sheik defeated Bob Backlund for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship, a title he lost a month later to “The Incredible” Hulk Hogan. The rest is history.

His last major match happened in 2001, when he won the famous ‘Gimmick Battle Royal’ at WWF WrestleMania X-Seven.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 by his old rival Sgt. Slaughter.
