CM Punk is going to return to the ring on June 17th. He will main event the first ever episode of AEW Collision.
Punk will team up with AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR and take on ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe and Bullet Club Gold (Jay White & Juice Robinson) in a Trios Match.
During an interview with SK Wrestling, D-Generation X member & current AEW star Billy Gunn ended up defending the former 2-time AEW World Champion and explained why bringing him back is the right decision.
Here’s what the 2019 WWE Hall of Famer had to say about CM Punk’s upcoming return:
“I think it’s a positive thing. I really do because he is still, no matter what goes on behind the scenes, he’s still got it.
He’s still the guy, he still has huge drawing power, and that’s only going to help us. Why would you not want a guy in here that can help?
I don’t feel he’s as toxic as everybody thinks he is, but then again, I’m an old person and I don’t really care about all that other stuff.
All I care about is what can he do for the company, what can he do for the talent in the company, and he’s still very good at that.
We all have our days where we go a little off track.
I can’t speak for anything that happened to that because everything I heard is also hearsay and I don’t speak on hearsay because I’m just not a gossiper.”
