The backstage issues with CM Punk in AEW went public at the All Out PPV media scrum on September 4th 2022, which resulted in a backstage fight.

One year later, after several more issues, Punk has been fired from All Elite Wrestling.

In the main event of last year’s All Out PPV, Punk defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship for the second time in his career.

On the go-home episode of Dynamite for All Out 2022, Moxley had some interesting things to say about Punk in Chicago, which have gone viral now since Punk has been released from the company.

Below is what Moxley said in his promo:

“You have no idea how genuinely sorry I am that CM Punk just didn’t turn out to be what you wanted him to be. He didn’t turn out to be what any of us wanted him to be when we welcomed him back into this business and gave him a second chance in the greatest sport in the world. It just didn’t work out.

I have zero sympathy for CM Punk, and that is because CM Punk… fragile ego, fragile body, weak mind, weak spirit.”

As we have reported before, the original plan for the All Out 2023 pay-per-view was for CM Punk to defend his “Real” AEW World Championship against Ricky Starks in the main event.

In the new main event, Jon Moxley defeated Orange Cassidy to win the AEW International Championship. This ended Cassidy’s 326-day title reign.
