Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.

• During an interview with Sports Illustrated, former Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley said she never thought she’d achieve the success that she’s enjoying right now in WWE.

Here’s what Mami said about her career:

“I never thought that I could do this. Isn’t that wild? I’ve been able to accomplish so much here, but I never thought I was good enough.

Early on in my career, I always heard I wasn’t good enough – or that I was distracting the people who had potential. I didn’t think I could be a big name here, but I was determined to become one.

Hearing people cheer for me, it’s even louder than I thought it would be. So I’m grateful for my stubbornness. That’s what got me to America so far away from my family. It gets me to the gym in the morning. It gets me titles in WWE. I’m thankful to be so stubborn.”

• WWE is set to introduce a new title for the women’s division, adding to the already numerous championships in the company. This new title will be part of WWE Speed, a series of three-minute matches exclusively on X, where so far only male WWE stars have competed for the WWE Speed Championship.

Triple H announced that the women will soon have their own championship on WWE Speed. The tournament to determine the first WWE Speed Women’s Champion is scheduled to begin on September 4.

Here’s what WWE’s Chief Content Officer tweeted:

“Time to turn WWE Speed up another notch… excited to announce that the WWE Speed Women’s Championship Tournament will premiere Sept. 4 at 12pm ET / 9am PT, exclusively on X.”

Andrade is the current WWE Speed Champion. He won the title by defeating Ricochet, who was the inaugural champion.
