• “I was good to Wrestling, Wrestling wasn’t good to me” – Former WWF Women’s Champion

Former WWF Women’s Champion Alundra Blayze was recently interviewed by WrestlingInc, where she talked about her long, illustrious pro-wrestling career, that lasted from 1986 until she retired in 2001.

Madusa, which was her name outside the World Wrestling Federation / WWE, came out of retirement for a Battle Royal at the WWE Evolution PPV on October 28, 2018.

Below are the highlights from this interview:

On her 2015 Hall of Fame induction:

“I was scared sh*tless actually. I didn’t know what to expect, I hadn’t seen Vince in 20 years or whatever, I didn’t know what to expect. But the initial coming in, meeting everybody, seeing everyone, doing everything, and then that initial hello to Vince was just overwhelmingly wonderful. He was so kind and nice.

Hopefully, it wasn’t a work but in this business, you don’t know. But I would hope not, I don’t think so. I’ve always been a Vince girl. I would always show up, I was never late to gigs, I always passed my piss test. It was one of those freak things, he wanted to change it up and he got rid of the women.”

On her career:

“I was good to wrestling, wrestling wasn’t good to me. Period.”

On today’s Women’s division:

“I didn’t expect any of that. I did not expect any of it, and when I got there, they were so cordial and so nice and so giving. The girls were so professional and loving. It was a 180. I was breaking down inside without breaking down on the outside. Because the whole 180 turn of what I experienced.

I was looking at these women thinking, ‘I am so glad you don’t have to go through what I did.’ Just to see this, and the opportunity and everything made me feel like I did my job.”

• Shawn Michaels Makes A Bold Claim About NXT 2.0

During a recent interview on the Jim Varsallone podcast, Old School WWF Legend Shawn Michaels spoke about the current product and direction of the weekly NXT 2.0 TV show, which is WWE’s developmental brand.

The Heartbreak Kid currently works backstage as a writer and producer for the NXT 2.0 brand, and he went on to claim in this interview that NXT 2.0 is the only wrestling brand that produces real young and fresh talent.

Here’s what the 2-time WWE Hall of Famer had to say:

“One of the really cool buzzwords…is ‘producing new, young, fresh superstars,’ and they are actually people who have been around for 10 or 15 years and are just now making it onto television.

We are the only brand in the entire world that is bringing real, true to life, young, fresh men and women that are going to be the stars of RAW and SmackDown in the next 5 to 10 years. It’s just that simple. It starts all here.

Bron Breakker, Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller, numerous other people where you are watching their first, second, third, tenth matches. Breakker, Tony D’Angelo, they are going to go out there at WarGames, one of our biggest shows of the year, and it’s their 10th to 15th match.

Nobody has been thrown into the deep end like these young men and women have. They’ve done a fantastic job and it’s awesome to see.”

• Top SmackDown Star Loved Billy & Chuck

During a recent interview with Bleacher Report, SmackDown Superstar Xavier Woods said that he always loved Tag Team Wrestling, even as a kid, and revealed that the tag team Billy & Chuck (Billy Gunn & Chuck Palumbo) inspired and entertained him.

Here’s what the 2021 King of the Ring had to say:

“It’s been really cool, obviously because I haven’t had the chance to have a singles run in the company yet and the focus has always been on tag team wrestling. Even when I was a kid, I was just obsessed with it. Billy and Chuck were my favorite tag team. I freaking loved them.

People always laugh when I say that, but when you go back and think about it, that was a situation where we had a team that hit the scene and it wasn’t necessarily, ‘Oh, these guys are world-beaters and they’re going to be champions.’

They evolved into one of the most entertaining teams we could see and they had a full main event segment with them getting married as partners with a reveal. With Eric Bischoff.

It’s hard for tag teams to get that position where they not only get to have cool matches but where they get to be in the middle of the most important stuff on the show.”

Billy and Chuck first teamed up towards the end of the invasion storyline in the fall of 2001 and they won the WWF/WWE Tag Team Championship two times, before splitting up in October 2002, after Billy Gunn had a shoulder injury during a match.

• Charlie Haas Compares Divorce From Former WWE Diva To The Death Of His Brother

WWE Ruthless Aggression Era Superstar Charlie Haas recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet about his professional wrestling career and his private life’s blows of fate.

He went as far as comparing his 2020 divorce from former WWE/TNA Diva Jackie Gayda to the 2001 death of his brother and Pre-WWE indy tag team partner Russ Haas.

Here’s what Charlie had to say about his brother passing away 20 years ago:

“It destroyed me. It was like the divorce from Jackie, they are your best friends. You grew up with them. He’s your little brother, then you find him dead and it’s like, man, is this really happening?

It was tough, it really was. But then you have to call your mom and dad and tell them that you found your brother dead. That’s not good. I didn’t think I was going to be able to get out of that. I didn’t know how to survive that, and I didn’t know what WWE would do.

They signed the Haas brothers, not Charlie Haas. But thank God that Jim Ross saw that we could still do this with Charlie and Shelton (Benjamin). Arn Anderson said, ‘Let me take Charlie and Shelton and let me see what I can do with them.’

We basically just traveled with Arn. He put us in the ring prior to the house show matches and in the dark matches, and he taught us everything he knew.

His heart was into it as much as ours was, and that was when I knew that someone really cared. He really put everything into us.

Shelton was a guy who I found as a partner just like my brother, he is my brother, and it worked. Shelton had the same goal as I did, and I’m just very lucky.”

I want to thank my family, my fans, Alberto Sevilla, who helped me to be in this physical condition, my friend Akbar Farat and the Lucha Libre Online family. Thanks to everyone who believed in me.

• Jim Cornette Claims Roddy Piper Would Have Loved AEW Wrestler

On the latest episode of his weekly Drive-Thru podcast, legendary NWA/WCW/WWF Manager Jim Cornette claimed that WWF Legend ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper would have loved current AEW Superstar MJF if Roddy was still alive.

Here’s what Cornette said:

“I do think Piper would have loved him. I think he would say, ‘here is a guy who can talk, knows how to push people’s buttons and who likes to get heat’.

If Piper saw his matches, especially the one with Darby Allin, I think he’d have been quite impressed with that.

So I have to think Roddy would be kind of relieved that somebody has come along like that who still takes the business and what they are doing in it fairly seriously. And can go out and not in the same style as Roddy, but in the same vein, rile people up on the microphone as Roddy did 40 years ago.

I definitely believe he’d approve of MJF whole-heartedly.”

Roddy Piper started wrestling in the early 70s and retired in 2011, before he eventually passed away in his sleep on July 31, 2015 due to a cardiopulmonary arrest caused by hypertension and a pulmonary embolism.
