• “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon” – Top WWE Star After John Cena’s Retirement
On the Saturday Night’s Main Event post show, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk discussed his retirement plans while discussing John Cena’s career:
“When I make allusions to the end of whatever my career is going to look like, it’s not because I feel like I’m there. It’s because I look back at the entirety of my career and there is a lot more road behind me than there is in front of me.
Trust me, I am the champion for a reason, and I’m here to stay, and nobody’s going to change that. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.”
Punk then praised how Cena went out:
“John has always taken what the task was and made it better and knocked it out of the park, and that’s admirable. To watch him go into the sunset with such class and dignity is such a rare thing.”
• “I WOULD NEVER” – RAW Star On John Cena Tapping Out
At WWE Survivor Series 2025, Team Rhea Ripley defeated Team Asuka in the Women’s WarGames match after AJ Lee made Becky Lynch tap out to the Black Widow submission. In an interview with Peter Rosenberg after the match, Becky claimed that she did not tap out:
“I did not tap out. No, no, no. I said, ‘Come here, come here!’ What is wrong with you? You’ve got the first interview with me, an exclusive interview, Rude Rosenberg, and saying that I tapped out. I clearly didn’t tap out. I was yelling to the rest of my team, very incompetent, by the way.
I’ve given them all the guidance. However, Lash Legend, she was medically disqualified. She couldn’t go on. That should have thrown the match out. I’m going to get the footage. This is why I’m talking to my lawyers. I will get the footage and you’re going to see clear as day that I did not tap.
I’m not going back. I am leaving. I am boycotting the show because it’s been one thing after the other. I should have my Intercontinental Title. I have not heard back from (Adam) Pearce. Maxxine Dupri is walking around like she earned something. She should not be allowed in this building. She should be stripped of that immediately.
I’m not coming back until they reverse the decision of this match and they reverse the decision of that match.”
Becky is maintaining the claim of her not tapping out by tweeting the following about John Cena’s retirement:
“I still can’t believe John Cena tapped. I WOULD NEVER!”
Becky also paid tribute to Cena:
“The Greatest to Ever Do It (ME!!! Sports Illustrated, Bleacher Report says it) and THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME (YOU!!! EVERYONE SAYS IT). THANK YOU! #ThankYouCena”
• Why Donald Trump Didn’t Attend John Cena’s Final Match
Despite rumors and the event being held in the nation’s capital, U.S. President and WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump did not attend John Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. Even though he was absent, a number of important figures from his administration were present at the show.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE had hoped for the President to attend the historic event. He was even available that Saturday, having been at the Army vs. Navy football game earlier in the day. However, the report states that the President chose not to come to the Capital One Arena.
WWE’s relationship with the President remains solid, as Chief Content Officer Triple H recently attended the White House when the President signed an executive order. The President will be seen at a TKO event next year, when the UFC White House event takes place on June 14, 2026.
