On this day in Pro Wrestling history on April 30, 2000, the World Wrestling Federation aired their annual ‘WWF Backlash’ event LIVE on PPV from the MCI Center in Washington, D.C.!

This was the 2nd annual Backlash event held by the WWF/WWE from 1999 till 2009 and again since 2016.

After not being able to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship from Triple H at WrestleMania 2000, The Rock got another chance in the main event of this pay-per-view, this time in a one on one match with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee.

– WWF Light Heavyweight Championship: Dean Malenko (c) defeated Scotty 2 Hotty

– Big Show defeated Kurt Angle

– T & A defeated The Dudley Boyz

– WWF European Championship: Eddie Guerrero (c) defeated Essa Rios

– WWF Intercontinental Championship: Chris Benoit (c) defeated Chris Jericho via DQ

– WWF World Heavyweight Championship: The Rock defeated Triple H (c)

As seen in the main event segment of last night’s RAW, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles laid out Universal Champion Seth Rollins by hitting a Phenomenal Forearm through a Table.

After RAW went off the air, former RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival came out and tried to attack Rollins, but Rollins fought them off single-handedly and double stomped them to end the night.

Rollins is set to defend the Universal Championship against Styles in the main event of next month’s Money In The Bank 2019 PPV.
