MJF defeated Jay White in the main event of the Full Gear PPV to retain the AEW World Championship. MJF has now held the Title for one full year.

WrestlePurists reported that MJF suffered multiple injuries at Full Gear:

“According to sources, MJF hurt his hip during his match vs Jay White and had to have his hip popped back in after the show.

He was also said to have banged up his shoulder.”

The Wrestling Observer revealed the spots where MJF got seriously hurt:

“MJF legit suffered a dislocated hip during the match as well as aggravated a prior shoulder injury.

The hip injury took place when he was planning to do the spot where you come off the top rope and fly far, ending with an elbow drop putting your opponent through the (announce) table. However, when he put White on the table, it collapsed.

Instead of just ditching the spot, he felt that the crowd was going to flatten if he didn’t do the spot, climbed up to the top rope and did an elbow drop from the top rope to the floor, which is an absolute killer on your hip. It was popped back in, but he was in terrible pain.

The shoulder injury worsened from a top rope uranage.”

In an update, the Observer is reporting that MJF is dealing with a torn labrum in the shoulder:

“The swelling is down on his hip, but the pain is not down. He’s hurting on the hip. The shoulder is, I guess, the more serious of the two.

This tear is worse than the one (he had in 2020), so it’s a pretty big tear. But guys work on torn labrums all the time.”

MJF is scheduled to defend the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe at the Worlds End PPV on December 30th.
