• “It’s about stunts now” – Attitude Era Legend Criticizes Current Pro-Wrestling
On a recent episode of his weekly ‘The Kurt Angle Show’ podcast, our Olympic Hero shared his opinion on the current state of pro-wrestling, compared to the good old days, back when he broke into the business.
Here’s what Kurt Angle had to say:
“The business has changed. It’s about stunts now. These guys are doing high spots. It’s all good, it’s great. It’s entertaining.
How long are you going to do that? How many times are you going to do it before you get injured? I’d be in a wheelchair right now.
Doing the chain wrestling and submission trade-offs is a lot safer, and the fans actually love it.”
Kurt Angle wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation / World Wrestling Entertainment during the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era, from 1999 until he left in 2006 and joined Dixie Carter’s Total Nonstop Action! (TNA), where he wrestled until 2016.
The 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist then returned to WWE in 2017, got inducted into the Hall of Fame and wrestled for them until he officially retired in 2019.
