Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Jade Cargill and CM Punk.

• Jade Cargill’s 2024 has been significant, marking her first year in WWE after transitioning from AEW in late 2023. Teaming up with Bianca Belair, Cargill captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles at Backlash France. However, their reign was short-lived, ending after 42 days in a triple threat match where neither was pinned.

During the Clash At The Castle PLE, Cargill attempted a springboard move off the top rope but slipped and hit the mat. Reflecting on the incident with Metro, Cargill shared her thoughts:

“I just had to keep on going. I can’t just lay there. I’ve never, ever in my career, ever took a fall like that. All these power moves I do, I’ve never failed, I’ve never slipped. So for me to have to do that, you know, mid air, I was like, dang! But I just knew I had to keep going.”

Cargill emphasized her resilience, saying, “A lot of people wouldn’t be able to do that. They would probably crumble under pressure. But diamonds are created under pressure, and that’s what I am.”

• CM Punk and Stone Cold Steve Austin’s paths have crossed many times, but a match between the two stars has never materialized. The two famously had a face-off during a promotional interview for the WWE ’13 video game, sparking speculation that never led to a match.

With Punk’s return to WWE in November 2023, rumors surfaced about a potential match with Austin, but nothing materialized. Austin later mentioned that if he ever returned to the ring, facing Punk would be a strong possibility.

When asked about this potential dream matchup at WrestleMania 41 during an appearance on The Masked Man Show at Fanatics Fest, Punk said:

“That would be up to Steve. It’s not up to me. I think he had a pretty good return. Came back, main evented WrestleMania. At this point, his six shooters might be buried in the Nevada desert. If he wants to dig them up, I’m your huckleberry. It should’ve happened 10+ years ago, but if he wants to go to sleep, he can call me.”

Austin recently noted that he hopes to be a part of WrestleMania 41 in 2025.
