• Jake Roberts Reveals Why He Left The WWF In 1992: “Vince had promised me that”

Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts wanted out of his WWF contract in 1992 to join Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling and he was granted that wish under the condition that he puts over The Undertaker on his way out, which he did in great fashion at WrestleMania VIII on April 5th 1992 at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.

But what led the 2014 WWE Hall of Famer to the decision to leave the World Wrestling Federation and go to the rival organization instead?

During an interview with WrestlingNews, Jake Roberts revealed that Vince McMahon actually broke a promise to him, when he was originally told he could become a booker for the promotion, but once Pat Patterson was (officially) gone as a result of the infamous s*x/p*dophilia scandal, Vince still refused to keep his word … at least according to Jake.

Here’s what ‘The Snake’ said:

“Vince had promised me that position long before, several years before, that that would be my spot.

So when it happened, I’m like ‘Okay, I’m ready, man’, and the story was ‘Well, out of respect for Pat, we’re not going to fill that position’.

Bullsh*t. Pat never left. He was still there. He just wasn’t shown on TV.”
