Below are some top news stories of the day, involving JBL, Vince McMahon and Sammy Guevara.

• Vince McMahon’s approach to WWE commentary included strict language rules to make the broadcast sound polished and intelligent, according to JBL on the Something to Wrestle podcast.

McMahon banned simple words like “very,” preferring more sophisticated alternatives such as “ecstatic”.

He also disliked phrases like “that arm” or “the arm,” deeming them unprofessional.

McMahon’s goal was to elevate the commentary’s tone, reflecting his preference for formality and sophistication.

Here’s what the former WWE Champion said:

“Vince didn’t like a lot of things like ‘very’. Like you’re ‘very’ happy. Learn English was Vince McMahon’s mindset. Say ‘ecstatic,’ say something. Vince didn’t like that because he thought it sounded redneck-ish or stupid.

He wanted better words. He wanted a more sophisticated commentary than that. And he hated the word ‘that’. You say the word ‘that’ arm. Oh my God. Phew, that’s a no-no! That is a no-no!

It’s the ‘right’ arm. It’s not ‘that’ arm. Vince hated the term ‘that’ and ‘the’.”
