• John Cena Could Tie Another Ric Flair Record At WrestleMania 39
At Royal Rumble 2017, John Cena defeated AJ Styles to become a 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, thus tying Ric Flair’s WWE recognized record of 16 World Title reigns.
At WrestleMania 39 this Saturday, Cena will challenge Austin Theory for the United States Championship in the opening match of the show.
Flair holds the record for the most United States Title reigns: 6. Cena is only one behind with 5 US Title reigns.
If Cena somehow defeats Theory, then he’ll equal another Ric Flair title record.
Cena posted the following about his first WrestleMania match since 2020:
“First match, #WrestleMania 20, @TheGarden.
First match, #WrestleMania 39, @SoFiStadium.
Then. NOW. Forever.”
