In the main event of the WWE SummerSlam 2014 pay-per-view on August 17th 2014, Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena after hitting a record 16 suplexes – most of which were German suplexes – to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

During an interview with ‘NotSam Wrestling’, John Cena defended the decision to have Brock basically destroy him at the biggest event of the summer back then.

Here’s what the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion had to say:

“Brock is one of the most giving performers when it’s his time, and he will make anyone look great.

But I remember Brock being like ‘Hey you know, I had dinner with Steve Austin last night and we came up with this idea where I just start suplexing you and don’t stop, and then beat you’.

I said ‘Yeah!’. He said ‘What do you mean?’. I was like ‘Well, we both collectively agreed that you just beat The Streak. We will ruin that if we have a 50-50 match’.”

John Cena last wrestled at the Night 1 opener of WrestleMania 39 and lost to United States Champion Austin Theory in 11 minutes and 20 seconds.

He’s expected to return for another match at next year’s 40th anniversary of WrestleMania, but nothing is set in stone at this point in time.
