3. John Cena Fails To Break A Big Record At No Mercy 2016
We noted before that after his No Mercy 2016 WWE World Championship match, John Cena would become the man with the most Pay-Per-View main events in WWE history, surpassing legendary names like The Undertaker & Triple H.
However, the WWE World Championship match at No Mercy 2016 wasn’t the main event (as it was the 1st match on the main card of the show). John Cena is currently tied with The Undertaker & Triple H for the most PPV main events in WWE history: 67. Below is the list of wrestlers with most WWE PPV main events:
– John Cena (67)
– The Undertaker (67)
– Triple H (67)
– Shawn Michaels (48)
– Randy Orton (43)
– Stone Cold Steve Austin (41)
– Kane (38)
– The Rock (33)
– Chris Jericho (29)
– Edge (26)
It should be noted that the above numbers includes the Royal Rumble match appearances as well (which usually is the main event of the Royal Rumble PPV).
It should be noted that Cena hasn’t appeared in a WWE PPV main event in over 2 years now. His last PPV main event was at Night of Champions 2014, where he defeated Brock Lesnar via DQ in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.
