Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho were scheduled to take on Ricky Starks and Big Bill (fka Big Cass in WWE) for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at the Worlds End PPV on December 30th, but it looks like this won’t happen anymore.
Omega announced the following:
“I can’t really sugar coat this. I’m out indefinitely. I tried to keep pushing past the pain for as long as I could until it became too much.
Luckily doctors caught me when they did. I’ll be here so in the mean time, please enjoy wrestling!”
In an update, Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that Omega is dealing with the same disease that Brock Lesnar suffered from during his UFC days – Diverticulitis:
“We’re told Kenny had been ill throughout the last week, even ahead of his match with Ethan Page.
He still did the match and the promos, and sought medical attention after, where he was hospitalized and diagnosed with diverticulitis.”
Diverticulitis (also called colonic diverticulitis) is an inflammation or infection in one or more small pouches in the digestive tract. Diverticulitis is more common after the age of 40.
Symptoms include abdominal pain, fever, nausea, a change in bowel habits, and rectal bleeding.
Treatment can include rest, a liquid or low-fiber diet and antibiotics. Severe cases may need hospital care and surgery. Doctors may recommend a high-fiber diet after recovery to prevent future episodes.
