Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes, and Omos.
• The rivalry between Kevin Owens and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes continues to intensify. After Rhodes defeated Owens at Bash In Berlin and again on Saturday Night’s Main Event to retain his title, Owens attacked Rhodes in frustration, delivering two piledrivers and forcing Rhodes to be stretchered out.
Before their steel cage match at the December 26th WWE Live Event in Jacksonville, Owens referenced Rhodes’ AEW history, mentioning the city’s connection to Rhodes during AEW’s pandemic-era shows at Daily’s Place.
Here’s what Owens said:
“Listen, I understand that Jacksonville suffered a lot of trauma because of Cody Rhodes because for many years, you guys had to put up with him, put up with him for almost every week. So I will do my best to help you heal by beating the hell out of Cody Rhodes.”
Rhodes defeated Owens by escaping the cage and retained the Undisputed Title.
