Kofi Kingston Responds To Karrion Kross Saying He Should’ve Retired After Losing To Brock Lesnar

Kofi Kingston vs Brock Lesnar SmackDown

Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Kofi Kingston and Bret Hart.

• Karrion Kross is currently feuding with The New Day and wants Xavier Woods to join his Final Testament faction, as he believes Kofi Kingston is holding Woods back.

Kross defeated Woods on this week’s RAW. Prior to the match, Kross took a shot at Kingston and told Woods that Kingston should have retired after he lost the WWE Championship in 6 seconds back in 2019 (to Brock Lesnar).

Kofi tweeted the following about what Kross said:

“8 seconds, @realKILLERkross, not 6. 8 seconds… which is about 8 seconds longer than you’ve held a title on the main roster.”

• During an appearance for Signed by Superstars, Bret Hart reiterated his disapproval of leg slaps in wrestling and expressed his desire for them to be banned.

When asked about his thoughts on the current wrestling product, he said, “It’s been so long since I watched, I can’t answer that fairly. They need to ban the slap spots.”

Hart had previously criticized the match between Gunther and Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE Clash At The Castle 2022 for using too many leg slaps and heavy chops, stating that he felt embarrassed to watch it from ringside.

On an episode of WWE’s The Bump in November 2023, Gunther addressed Bret’s criticism:

“I think it is obvious that in-ring, he is one of the best to ever do it. Very enjoyable. He was very popular in Germany and Austria when I was growing up. He was a big superstar there. But as Ludwig said before, I don’t forget.

And what that man said at my match in Cardiff and was not mentioning nice things after that. So, he is not going to get anything nice from me. Too bad he is not in the state anymore to settle this in the ring. It would have been very interesting.”
