– Tonight’s SmackDown on FS1 kicked off with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa & Paul Heyman arriving to the arena.
– Rey Mysterio def. Cameron Grimes, Sheamus & LA Knight in a Fatal 4-Way United States Championship Invitational
United States Champion Austin Theory attacked Mysterio during the match, which led to LWO member Santos Escobar making the save.
Mysterio vs. Escobar will take place on next week’s SmackDown, with the winner facing Theory for the US Title.
– Jey Uso arrived and met multiple NXT wrestlers backstage.
– Austin Theory complained about Santos Escobar attacking him and wants to face him tonight. Adam Pearce booked the match.
– NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams & NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton were shown at ringside.
– Charlotte Flair def. Ms. Money In The Bank IYO SKY
Bayley was on commentary during the match. A vignette for Shotzi aired on the titantron. This freaked Bayley out and she left.
After the match, WWE Women’s Champion Asuka attacked Charlotte and put her in an Armbar.
– Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and new NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio showed up backstage.
During an interview with Kayla Braxton, Dominik said the following about showing up on the blue brand:
“I wanted to show my dead beat Dad what a real champion looks like.”
Butch interrupted him and challenged him to a title match for tonight. Dirty Dom said he’s not dressed, his title isn’t polished and most importantly, there’s no one from NXT to book him in a Title match.
NXT Booker Shawn Michaels then showed up and booked Dominik’s first title defense against Butch for tonight.
– Bayley left the arena as she’s scared of Shotzi.
– In his locker room, Roman Reigns was looking at his Ula Fala and so was Solo Sikoa. Roman then began staring at Solo and Solo nodded.
– Santos Escobar def. United States Champion Austin Theory
– Bobby Lashley met NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams backstage.
– Dominik Mysterio (c) def. Butch to retain the NXT North American Championship
Rhea Ripley attacked Butch’s knee during the ending moments of the match, which led to Dirty Dom picking up the win.
During the match, Pretty Deadly came out and confronted Ridge Holland for injuring Elton Prince last week, and told him to apologize. Kit Wilson attacked Ridge, which led to Butch attacking Kit.
Kit then ran to the back and so did Elton, which led to Ridge chasing them.
– Roman Reigns and Jey Uso met in the ring in the main event segment of tonight’s SmackDown. Roman told Orlando to acknowledge him and they did.
Reigns asked Jey if he still wants to do this. Jey said yes, because he has to do it after what Roman and Solo Sikoa did to Jimmy Uso.
Roman said Jey is just a pawn in this game. Jey tore up the contract and said they don’t need no contract.
Jey said this match at SummerSlam 2023 will be “Tribal Combat”. Roman asked if the elders know about this, and Jey said it was the elders’ idea. Jey said they can do anything in this match.
Roman said this isn’t his first rodeo and said he has ran this business for almost a decade now. Roman then placed the Undisputed Title on the table and Jey reminded him that this is Tribal Combat.
This led to Roman placing his Ula Fala on top of the Title as well, which means it’s a “Winner Takes All” match at SummerSlam 2023.
The winner will be the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and will also be The Tribal Chief.
Roman and Jey then made this match official in a Samoan way, but holding hands and touching heads.
Solo was confused by this and went for the Samoan Spike on Jey, but Roman stopped him. Jey then took advantage of this and superkicked Solo to end the show.
