Becky Lynch’s rise to superstardom reached its peak when she won in the first women’s WrestleMania main event back in 2019, but her momentum immediately hit a strange turn.
Instead of continuing her run with top names, WWE slotted her into a mixed-tag feud pairing her with Seth Rollins against Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, a creative direction many fans at the time questioned. Both Becky and Seth said this decision was awful.
Speaking in a recent interview on Something’s Burning with Bert Kreischer, The Man didn’t hold back when reflecting on the sudden shift, explaining that going from the biggest moment of her career straight into a program with someone who hadn’t yet established herself felt like a huge step down. She said that being placed with Evans right after WrestleMania 35 was creatively frustrating and felt beneath the level she had just reached.
“For me to go from the main event of WrestleMania to somebody who hadn’t done anything was terrible.”
That comment didn’t sit quietly with Lacey Evans, who fired back on X with a series of sharp responses.
“Don’t hate the player. Hate the game. The only person who *shoot cried more than you was the baby I had on my hip while taking all the opportunities. If/when I come back… you will STILL do nothing but gently shake my hand and say ‘how cute my little family is’ backstage.”
Evans then took a shot at Becky’s in-ring ability.
“I legit learned that move in 2 mins. Between homeschooling my kid and making my husbands plate. Something #bustedItOutOnTheEndiesBecky could never do.”
When a fan told her to finish Becky with the Woman’s Right, the former WWE star doubled down.
“I tried. She cried for 2 hours… then no sold.”
She then took a shot at Lynch’s moonsault attempt against Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 38, implying she used to do it better than The Man.
“Over 20 years grinding… and this is the flip? Try again Michael.”
