The Lucha Bros, Penta and Rey Fenix, are still under AEW contract, despite speculation about their potential move to WWE. They will continue to remain in AEW for a bit longer.

Earlier this year, Fightful Select reported that their contracts were set to expire in 2023, with WWE showing interest in the duo.

Penta had even informed sources in June that he and his brother wanted to join WWE’s main roster as a package deal.

AEW became aware of this and offered them new contracts, hoping to retain them long-term.

However, Penta and Fenix did not sign those deals, although AEW sources indicated that there were no direct discussions about the brothers leaving.

According to Wrestling Observer, AEW added a few months to Penta’s contract due to injury, and Fenix’s deal had even more time remaining. This extension matched Fightful’s report, which confirmed that Fenix wouldn’t be joining WWE imminently. Fenix had missed significant time due to injuries between 2021 and 2024.

Penta’s public tweet about his commitment to AEW followed the injury-related contract extension.

While AEW has not officially confirmed future plans for the Lucha Bros, it is expected they will be used in some capacity if they leave the company. For now, they remain under contract and continue to be paid.

Despite rumors, Penta and Fenix have not signed with WWE, and there has been no official acknowledgment from WWE regarding their potential signing.
