WWE did a Live Event tour in Japan in July, but then-United States Champion Logan Paul didn’t attend because of a prior commitment. Fans speculated that Logan didn’t work this tour because of his infamous history in Japan, and that the “prior commitment” is just an excuse.
Logan’s infamous history in Japan centers around a highly controversial video he posted in December 2017. During a trip to Japan, Paul visited the Aokigahara Forest, also known as the “suicide forest” due to its reputation as a place where many people have taken their own lives.
In the video, Paul and his friends discovered a deceased body and filmed it, showing the victim’s body while making insensitive remarks. The video was met with widespread condemnation for its lack of sensitivity and respect.
Paul later issued multiple apologies, acknowledging his serious lapse in judgment, and the incident significantly impacted his public image.
This incident also resulted in The Rock ending his business relationship with Logan, as Rock told Logan to take down all the videos that they collaborated on.
RAW Superstar Dominik Mysterio appeared on Logan’s Impaulsive podcast and touched on the topic of Japan. You can read their exchange below:
Dominik: You’ve never been to Japan? (Laughs) You’ve never been?
Logan: I had prior obligations.
Dominik: You have to go. Can you go?
Logan: Bro, Dom. What do you think? Yes, I can go to Japan.
Dominik: I’m just making sure. I didn’t know if you were shadow banned or excommunicado.
Logan: No, I’m not excommunicado.
Dominik: I didn’t know if you were put on a list or something. WWE can pull some strings for you.
Logan: I’ve never said this before, but my rule was, if I went back, I would like to be invited back. I haven’t gotten the invite yet.
Mike Majlak (co-host): Who are you trying to get invited by?
Logan: My best bet is the WWE. I’d be a real heel there.
Dominik: Oh yeah, you would. Especially if you show up with the hat.
Logan: Stop. That was too far. That was actually too far, bro.
Dominik: As a heel, you know.
Logan: That was too far, bro.
