Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories:
– On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Sting reflected on his legendary 38-year career.
Sting said when he was forced to retire in 2015 it didn’t feel right, but this time he gets to go out his way. Sting announced that his last match will be at Revolution 2024.
While talking about his career, Sting mentioned some old school wrestlers, but highlighted 3 men who helped him a lot – Dusty Rhodes, Hulk Hogan & Ric Flair.
This began speculation that All Elite Wrestling will bring in Ric Flair for Sting’s retirement match (since Dusty is no longer with us and Tony Khan banned Hogan from AEW), so The Nature Boy can be ringside for his old rival’s final match.
It should be noted that Ric isn’t under any kind of contract with WWE and is free to appear in AEW. He was actually supposed to debut in AEW in late 2021, but plans got nixed because of the backlash Ric faced after Dark Side Of The Ring episode on the Plane Ride From Hell.
– Shane McMahon’s 19-year-old son Declan McMahon recently appeared ringside at the Fastlane premium live event, where he was holding the Indiana University custom WWE Championship and was present along with his Indiana teammates.
During an interview with WU Online, Declan was asked if he’d like to wrestle in WWE, just like his father and grandfather.
Below is what Declan said:
“When you’ve come up in this business and seen it… I’m never ruling it out. I would love to get in the ring, maybe a couple of times. You have to see if the opportunity presents itself. It’s all about the story. But, we’ll see.”
Declan added that he thinks he’d be a good in-ring performer and fans would get behind him.
He currently is a freshman running back at Indiana University.
