10. Eric Bischoff On Fans Quickly Judging The Kurt Angle – Jason Jordan Storyline

During a recent edition of Bischoff On Wrestling podcast, former WCW President Eric Bischoff addressed fans quickly judging the Kurt Angle – Jason Jordan storyline from Raw. Below is what he said:

“Let’s see where it goes. I always resented it when people were so quick to judge an angle the day after it started. Often times it takes a great story time to build. Take a look at any one of your favorite scripted series. One of my favorites recently in The Handmaid’s Tale. My wife wanted to watch it and the first episode was painful for me to sit through. I just couldn’t really understand what the attraction was. Slowly but surely the stories and characters really started to get ahold of me and now I really love the series. It takes awhile. GLOW, on Netflix, same thing. I dropped into it because I thought I should as part of what we do here talking about all things wrestling related. I have to say the first 15-20 minutes of it I was like, “Eh, I don’t think so.” Sure enough by the end of the first episode, certainly by the second or third, I was jonesing for it. It’s one of my favorite things on television right now.

In terms of Kurt Angle and the storyline and the way they’ve set it up let’s see. For me looking at it they’ve certainly done a good job creating anticipation. If you look at the “Surprise, Anticipation, Reality, Surprise and Action” formula they have checked the anticipation box. Let’s see how the story unfolds. Let’s see how reality based they can make it feel. Let’s see what surprises may come up in the story. We inherently know there will be action but it’s way, way, way too early to judge it.”
