Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day.

• Roman Reigns has an impressive array of accomplishments and accolades that have cemented his legacy. However, since his loss to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, Reigns has been on an extended break. Recent reports suggest that the timeline for his return might now be coming into focus.

In Reigns’ absence, The Bloodline faction has seen significant changes. Solo Sikoa has taken the reins, with Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa joining the group. This shift in leadership has not sat well with Paul Heyman, who has grown increasingly frustrated with Sikoa’s actions over the past few weeks.

The Wrestling Observer highlighted that both Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns are being embraced as babyfaces by the fans. WWE has indicated that Reigns’ return is imminent, with The Tribal Chief expected to make his comeback as early as July, just in time for SummerSlam 2024 on August 3rd, where he’s rumored to face Solo Sikoa.

• WWE has officially announced that the Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event will take place on June 15th this year, featuring several exciting matches, including a showdown between Piper Niven and Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship. The reasoning behind Niven’s title shot has now been revealed.

On the May 31st edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Nia Jax took center stage, adorned with her prestigious crown, and called out her SummerSlam opponent to face her in the ring. However, as Bayley made her way to the ring, she was ambushed by Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, who swiftly threw her into the ring.

With Bayley incapacitated, Niven and Green turned their attention to Nia Jax, declaring that Niven would defeat Bayley for the title, setting up a future confrontation with Jax. WWE then confirmed that Piper Niven would challenge Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at Clash at the Castle.

The Wrestling Observer shed light on WWE’s decision to feature Piper Niven in the title match, explaining that it was a strategic move to fill time, with the ultimate goal of setting up a future match between Bayley and Nia Jax:

“The major match is the Nia Jax match and they just did this to fill time until we get to it.”

Also, with Clash at the Castle taking place in Scotland, which is Piper’s home country, it was the right time for her to be booked in a big title match.
