Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, featuring Private Party and The Undertaker.

• Private Party has been one of the original teams in AEW, and they remain a fan favorite. At AEW WrestleDream 2024, they had an exciting match against The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Despite coming close several times and receiving strong support from the crowd, Private Party ultimately fell short, and The Young Bucks retained their titles, extending their reign beyond 171 days.

According to Fightful Select, there was significant backstage support for Private Party to win the match and capture their first AEW titles since debuting 5 years ago.

Their storyline focused on proving themselves after an early win over The Young Bucks didn’t elevate them to stardom. However, the final decision was to keep the belts with The Young Bucks, despite the push for Private Party.

• It’s no secret at this point that WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker is a big supporter of World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

On his Six Feet Under podcast, Undertaker discussed what would happen if Gunther faces Brock Lesnar.

Here’s what The Deadman said:

“Yep, it would propel Gunther to another level to work a program with Brock. To the heights that I think Brock could bring him to would be — make him untouchable.

Because he already has — he has his own style, he has his own pace, and everything else. But to work with somebody a beast like Brock would push him to levels that I’m not sure there’s anybody on the roster right now that does that.”

Gunther vs. Lesnar was teased during the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match. It was reportedly planned for WrestleMania 39, but Vince McMahon changed the plan.

It was later planned for WrestleMania 40, but Brock got pulled from the plans due to his involvement in the Vince McMahon lawsuit.
