Matt Riddle and Randy Orton formed a successful tag team known as RK-BRO in WWE, winning tag team gold and becoming a highlight of WWE television.

However, Riddle recently revealed that Orton initially wanted him to get fired after their first meeting in 2019.

The awkward encounter occurred when Orton went to shake hands with everyone, but Riddle kept to himself, causing friction between them.

Despite this initial tension, the two eventually became friends and went on to dominate WWE television with their tag team partnership.

Here’s what Riddle said during a session with Signed by Superstars:

“I think Randy didn’t like me. First time we met, I didn’t want to bother him and he’s going up to everybody (and shaking their hands).

I had my headphones on, I was chilling and I didn’t go up and say hi to him. And I remember Randy going, ‘I’m going to figure out a way to get this guy fired’. And I was like, ‘You said that, dude?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, but you’re cool now’.”

Later on The Kurt Angle Show, Riddle thanked Randy for helping him through tough times:

“I can’t thank him enough for being my tag team partner. He really helped me out through a lot of tough times because I was going through a divorce at the time and everything else and he’s been through a similar situation.

He was just a real brother, especially when you’re on the road, it’s not like I can call anybody.

I can, but it’s not the same, and to have him there and be that supportive, because you know how Randy can be, for him to be that supportive to me, it was nice. Randy has a spot in my heart forever.”
