During a recent episode of his brand new ‘Lex Expressed’ podcast, WWF Legend Lex Luger spoke about Cody Rhodes returning to WWE in 2022 and his failed attempt to defeat Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for the title in the main event of WrestleMania 39.
Here’s what The Total Package had to say:
“There is a lot to say for seizing the moment. Cody had a lot of momentum. So definitely sometimes you have to seize the moment. Now we see other stars rising up. There’s talk of The Rock coming in.
I think Cody is one of the best workers, the best interviewers, and his costuming is immaculate.
I know he’s very confident, and I don’t know what storyline they have for him. Maybe he missed his moment there. We shall see. I hope not.”
There have been multiple reports about WWE planning to do a rematch between Reigns and Rhodes for the Undisputed Title in the main event of WrestleMania 40.
WWE planted seeds for this rematch on a recent episode of RAW, when Michael Cole questioned Cody if he still intends to “Finish The Story” or if he’s afraid to fail again.
This rematch was heavily teased on last week’s SmackDown, when Roman and Cody had a heated face-off.
Cody Rhodes first wrestled for WWE from 2007 until 2016 and later – after stints in IMPACT Wrestling (2016-2017) and Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (2019-2022) – returned at WrestleMania 38 as the mystery opponent for Seth Rollins.
Lex Luger first joined Vince McMahon’s short-lived World Bodybuilding Federation in 1992, then wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation from January 1993 until he returned to Ted Turner’s WCW in September of 1995.
