• Mick Foley Reveals TNA’s Original Plan For Him

On a recent episode of his weekly ‘Foley is Pod’ podcast, Old School WWF Legend Mick Foley spoke about his 2008-2011 run with Dixie Carter’s ‘Total Nonstop Action!’ and revealed the initial plans they had for his character in the promotion.

Here’s what The Hardcore Legend had to say:

“My original storyline was supposed to be that I’d show up, I’d say ‘I’m Mick Foley and I’ve just purchased the X Division’.

When Scott Fishman gave me that, I was like ‘Oh, man, I’m in’. I really wanted to do that.

It wasn’t really whether or not I was going to get to work with Sting. But definitely having him around was really a plus.”

Mick Foley officially retired in 2000 but returned for several matches in 2004, 2006 & 2007, before working as a color commentator on ‘SmackDown!’ in 2008.

Foley didn’t appreciate being yelled at into his earpiece by Vince McMahon though, so this resulted in him giving his notice and jumping ship to TNA later that year, where he – again – came out of his in-ring retirement for several matches.
