Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring Mike Tyson and RAW.

• WWE Hall of Famer Mike Tyson and Jake Paul (brother of WWE Superstar Logan Paul) faced off in a boxing match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with Paul winning by unanimous decision. However, both fighters will be sidelined temporarily as they’ve received suspensions.

The fight saw flashes of Tyson’s signature skills early on, including his peek-a-boo style and powerful shots. “Iron Mike” showed glimpses of his brilliant best, landing an impressive jab and a powerful right hand. But by the third round, his stamina waned, leaving him vulnerable to Paul’s punches. Despite this, Tyson lasted until the final bell, with the younger Paul earning the judges’ decision.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has mandated a recovery period for both boxers. “Medical disqualification of a contestant is for their own safety and may be made at the recommendation of the examining physician or TDLR,” the board stated.

The fighters are required to rest for three days per round fought, meaning their eight-round match necessitates a 24-day hiatus. The regulation board clarified, “A contestant who disagrees with a medical disqualification, medical suspension, or rest period set at the discretion of a ringside physician or a disqualification or suspension set by the department may request a hearing to show proof of fitness.”

• Braun Strowman has returned to in-ring action after being sidelined for a month due to injury.

Strowman sustained a torn groin during a Last Monster Standing Match against Bronson Reed on the October 1st episode of RAW. In the match, Reed delivered a superplex that caused the ring to collapse, leading to Seth Rollins’ surprise return. Rollins hit Reed with a stomp on the steel steps, allowing Strowman to secure the victory.

Following Friday’s episode of SmackDown, Strowman made his comeback in a dark (untelevised) match. Initially, Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee faced World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor & JD McDonagh, with the match ending in a DQ after Carlito interfered. Strowman then entered the ring to even the odds.

The match was restarted as a six-man tag, with the babyface team ultimately triumphing to send the crowd home happy.
