Ridge Holland is set to leave WWE next month after learning that his contract will not be renewed. Holland, who recently underwent surgery for a Lisfranc injury, confirmed that his current deal will officially expire on November 14, while he remains sidelined from in-ring competition for several months.

A previous report from the Wrestling Observer revealed that Holland had been working under an NXT-level contract after moving back to the developmental brand. His earnings were significantly lower than main roster pay, which WWE is not willing to cover while he’s injured.

A new update from Fightful Select has provided more details on Holland’s contractual situation. The outlet confirmed that Holland was signed to an “NXT money” deal rather than a higher-value main roster contract.

They also reported that the former NXT Tag Team Champion’s original main roster contract ran until November 2024. When that deal came up for renewal, WWE offered him a one-year extension at around $200,000 less than his previous agreement, which he accepted. That short-term deal is now approaching its expiration.

It was also noted that Holland wasn’t being paid extra by WWE for his work in TNA.

Several wrestlers within WWE are disappointed with how the company has handled the situation. A veteran stated that something like this would have “never happened” before the pandemic.

In an update, Ridge revealed more bad news – he might need neck surgery as well:

“Next Tuesday I’ve got to go to Birmingham, Alabama to have the cast cut off, some more x-rays to make sure the foot’s all good and we can go possibly to partial weight bearing.

The kicker is that prior to the foot, I had a neck injury that I was going to get imaging for. I got imaging for the post-foot surgery and I’m going to Birmingham also to see the neck specialist.

Worst case scenario, I’ll need surgery and I’m hoping for the best case scenario which is injections. But I’m having some nerve impingement which is sending pain down my arm, so I’m a little bit apprehensive about what’s going to happen because it’s another kick in the balls, really.”
