• Old School WWF Legend Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF Legend “Mr.” Bob Backlund celebrates his 71st birthday today.

He held the World Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Championship from February 1978 until he lost it to The Iron Sheik in December 1983.

In 1979, Inoki won the belt in Japan for a week, but this reign is not recognized by the now renamed WWE, which still lists Backlund’s title reign as being uninterrupted.

In 1994, Backlund reinvented himself when he turned heel and started to portray some sort of a maniac character.

Bob became the WWF World Heavyweight Champion again, when he defeated Bret “The Hitman” Hart in a submission match at the Survivor Series 1994 PPV.

In 2013, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his good friend, entertainment reporter Maria Menounos.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB BACKLUND!

• More Positive COVID-19 Cases In WWE

WWE was scheduled to tape the 7th and 14th August episodes of SmackDown on 4th August. However, they only taped last week’s SmackDown on 4th August and taped this week’s episode on 13th August.

PWInsider is reporting that the second taping on 4th August got cancelled because there were some positive COVID-19 cases in the company.

“They were supposed to tape two SmackDown episodes last week, and I’ve been told by 3 different sources that the second SmackDown taping got canceled at the last second because they had more positives.”

It’s unknown how many cases were there and who tested positive for the virus.
