• “Most Humiliating Thing I’ve Ever Been Through In My Life” – Ric Flair On His Former Gimmick

2-Time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair has revealed the most humiliating thing of his life.

The Black Scorpion was a masked character in Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling from the early vignettes that started in August 1990 until the final encounter with Sting in the main event of the ‘WCW Starrcade 1990: Collision Course’ pay-per-view on December 16th 1990.

While Ole Anderson voiced the character in the vignettes, it was Al Perez under the mask, whenever The Black Scorpion appeared in front of a crowd, like at Clash of the Champions XII in September ’90.

However, during the Starrcade 1990 Steel Cage Match for Sting’s World Title, it was none other than ‘The Nature’ Boy Ric Flair under the mask, portraying the short-lived gimmick.

During a recent episode of his weekly ‘To Be The Man’ podcast, Flair addressed his portrayal of The Black Scorpion, by saying the following:

“I did have the ability to make the call. I took one for the team. Do you think I like laying underneath that ring in St. Louis? A building that I sold out no less than 30 times as the NWA Champion?

That was the most humiliating thing I’ve ever been through in my life, and with how I conducted myself afterward. But I’m never the sh*ts.”
