According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the long-awaited showdown between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch is currently one of the most “locked-in” bouts on the internal schedule.
Despite the turbulence that recently saw other marquee matches (like Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes III) scrapped, the vision for Lee vs. Lynch has remained a constant for WWE’s creative team.
The seeds for this encounter were planted back in September when AJ Lee made her shock return to the industry on a part-time contract. Since then, WWE has been strategically keeping the former Divas Champion away from standard competition, as she has yet to compete in a traditional one-on-one match since her comeback.
This patient approach suggests that WWE views Lee’s first singles match in over a decade as a high-value attraction. By pairing the pioneer of the Divas era with “The Man” who redefined the modern women’s division, Triple H is looking to deliver a cross-generational spectacle that bridges the past and the present.
Becky recently won back the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and retained the title in a rematch against Maxxine Dupri on this week’s RAW.
