• New UFC Champion Crowned Via Disqualification At UFC 259 (VIDEO), New Champion Throws The Belt Down

At tonight’s UFC 259 pay-per-view, UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan delivered an illegal knee strike to Aljamain Sterling’s head.

This resulted in a disqualification and Aljamain was crowned the new champion via DQ.

UFC Commentators are speculating that Aljamain got concussed due to this illegal strike. They also said that Yan did this on purpose as Aljamain was ahead on the points table.

You can watch the illegal strike below:

Aljamain refused to take the Title after the fight and dropped it in the Octagon after Dana White gave it to him. His team later picked it up.

Below are the results from the main card of UFC 259 so far:

– Aleksandar Rakić def. Thiago Santos via Decision (unanimous) in a Light Heavyweight (205 lbs) bout

– Islam Makhachev def. Drew Dober via Submission (arm-triangle choke) in Round 3 of their Lightweight (155 lbs) bout

– Aljamain Sterling def. Petr Yan (c) via Disqualification (illegal knee) in Round 4 to win the UFC Bantamweight (135 lbs) Championship

It should be noted that former two time UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz competed in the main event of the UFC 259 Preliminary card.

Cruz defeated Casey Kenney via Decision (split) in a Bantamweight (135 lbs) bout. This was Cruz’s first win in UFC since 2016.
