Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Cody Rhodes and John Cena.

• Sports Illustrated is reporting that plans for multiple WrestleMania 40 matches have changed.

Cody Rhodes won’t be finishing the story as The Rock vs. Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship is planned.

Instead of facing CM Punk, Seth Rollins is going to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther.

These two changes are going to lead to CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes taking place. Seeds for this feud were planted on this week’s RAW.

• During an interview on Entertainment Tonight, 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena was asked about his status for WrestleMania 40.

Cena teased that he might show up since movies aren’t shot on the weekends:

“I don’t know if I’ll be free that weekend, but it is a weekend, and movies don’t shoot on the weekends.

But when I say I’m done – in WWE, they say never say never, and a lot of people retire and come back – I’m just being honest with myself.

There’s such a great new generation now as well. It’s time to pass the electric energy on to the folks that can be there every day.”

Cena then noted that he will wrestle in 2024:

“I’ve never missed a year, and as long as I can perform, I don’t intend to miss a year.”
